Trevor Lewis's story

He was lacing up skates before his third birthday and was scoring goals in high school by his freshman season. Raised in Salt Lake City, Trevor Lewis moved from local youth teams to the Pike’s Peak Miners AAA program in Colorado Springs to find stronger competition; his production there drew the notice of college and NHL scouts and set the stage for his junior career.

After missing a chance with Cedar Rapids, Lewis landed in the USHL with the Des Moines Buccaneers where he developed rapidly. A breakout year produced 35 goals and 40 assists, earning him USHL Player and Forward of the Year honours, a spot on the All-USHL first team and the Curt Hammer Award. Those achievements helped him be selected 17th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2006 draft. Lewis forewent college hockey with Michigan to sign an entry-level deal and spent 2006–07 with Owen Sound in the OHL, tallying 73 points in 62 games.

He began his professional journey in Manchester of the AHL, then made his NHL debut on December 19, 2008, scoring his first NHL goal the next day. After establishing himself in Los Angeles, he was part of the Kings’ Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2012 and 2014, including two goals in the clinching game of 2012. Contract renewals and a four-year extension in 2016 kept him in Los Angeles, where he completed his first full 82-game season in 2016–17 and posted a career-high 26 points in 2017–18 despite time lost to injury.

Following twelve seasons with the Kings, Lewis accepted a professional tryout with the Winnipeg Jets and signed a one-year contract in January 2021, netting his first Jets goal in February. He signed with Calgary in July 2021, played all 82 games in 2022–23, then returned to Los Angeles in 2023; he reached the 100-goal mark in November 2024 and appeared in his 1,000th NHL game on January 4, 2025. He retired on April 22, 2026. Off the ice, he and his wife Kara have three children.

His on-ice profile reads as steady and versatile: a forward who brings dependable two-way work, situational scoring and experience to depth lines, shaped by early emphasis on skating and production.
