How PickALeague.com selects, writes, sources and corrects its hockey news, and the role artificial intelligence plays.
We follow news feeds from established sports outlets and official communications from the NHL and its teams. Every article names the outlet it draws on, with a link to the original story. Stats, schedules, rosters and player photos come from the NHL.
Our articles are written by a language model, which summarizes the source story in its own words, in English and French. It is instructed to stick to the reported facts, to invent nothing — no quotes, no numbers — and to skip any story too thin to summarize honestly. Duplicate coverage of the same story by several outlets is removed. Articles are published automatically, without prior human review: that is why each one links to its source, and every reported mistake is corrected.
A summary is only as good as its source: we draw only on established outlets and always name where the information comes from. A rumor is presented as a rumor. Player and team names are matched against official NHL data.
A reported mistake is checked against the source and fixed in the article, and the page's updated date changes accordingly. Serious errors — a false fact, a misidentified person — are fixed first, and an article that cannot be put right is removed. To report a mistake: contact us.
The site is not affiliated with the NHL or its teams. It is funded by advertising and affiliate links, kept clearly apart from editorial content. No advertiser picks or reviews stories.
We do not reproduce other outlets' text or press photos: our articles are original summaries, and the only player images are those supplied by the NHL. Rights holders who want a summary removed can write to us.
