Phillip Di Giuseppe's story
Raised in Maple, Ontario, Di Giuseppe took to the ice as a child and climbed the local ranks, playing for the Vaughan Kings and later the Villanova Knights in the OJHL. A breakout 2010–11 season in junior — both in the regular campaign and playoffs — set him up for the next step in his development.
Choosing the collegiate route, he joined the Michigan Wolverines in 2011 and spent three seasons in Ann Arbor while studying in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. His freshman production and continued progress drew NHL attention and led to his selection 38th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. After his junior year he opted to turn pro, signing an entry-level deal with Carolina in March 2014.
Di Giuseppe began his pro life with the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL and made his NHL debut for the Hurricanes in December 2015. His career since then has involved several moves: re-signings with Carolina, a waiver claim by Nashville in January 2019, a one-year deal with the New York Rangers in July 2019, and multiple seasons within the Vancouver Canucks organization, where he split time between Vancouver and the Abbotsford Canucks and helped Abbotsford to a Calder Cup title on 23 June 2025.
After four years with Vancouver’s system, he signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets on 2 July 2025 and spent that season with the Manitoba Moose, tallying 15 goals and 35 points in 72 regular-season games. In July 2026 he elected to move overseas, agreeing to a one-year contract with newly promoted IF Björklöven of the SHL.
On the ice, Di Giuseppe is known for a balanced offensive game: he can finish chances but also set up teammates, adapting his role from scorer to playmaker as situations demand, and has built a steady professional career through versatility and consistency.
