Michael Milne

Growing up in Abbotsford, Michael Milne worked his way through local minor hockey before moving to Yale Hockey Academy and skating for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds. He stood out early at Yale’s U16 Prep level, leading the team with 50 points in 27 games during the 2017–18 season, a mark that helped him attract attention from WHL clubs.

Milne was taken in the 2017 WHL bantam draft in the eighth round by the Kootenay Ice and debuted in the league in 2018–19, recording 7 points across 40 rookie games. The franchise’s move to Winnipeg coincided with Milne’s offensive growth: over two subsequent seasons he posted 45 points in 47 games, and in 2021–22 he broke out with 38 goals and 81 points. The campaign before his NHL draft year was curtailed by a shoulder injury and pandemic interruptions, limiting him to 14 games during which he still managed 12 points.

Selected by the Minnesota Wild in the third round, 89th overall, of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Milne signed a three‑year entry‑level contract with the organization on October 19. He began his pro career with Minnesota’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild, in 2022. Across his first 107 AHL games he totaled 19 goals and 42 points, and he appeared in a pair of Calder Cup playoff games in 2023.

An injury kept him out of Minnesota’s rookie and main training camps ahead of the 2024–25 season, so he opened that season in Iowa; after scoring four goals and eight points in his first ten AHL contests, he was recalled by Minnesota on November 13 and made his NHL debut on November 16 against the Dallas Stars. Subsequent transactions saw him move within other NHL and AHL organizations, and he signed a one‑year AHL contract with the Manitoba Moose on July 21, 2026.

On the ice, Milne’s game is defined by his scoring instincts and finishing ability: his junior numbers underline a knack for finding the net, and his early pro seasons show a player who can chip in consistently on the scoresheet.
