Logan Mailloux's story
Growing up in Essex County, Logan Mailloux moved through Ontario’s youth systems before landing with the Toronto Marlboros and competing in the OHL Cup as a midget player. Those formative seasons sharpened his offensive instincts from the blue line and gave him regular exposure to high-level competition at an early age.
Selected by the London Knights in the OHL priority draft, Mailloux spent 2019–20 mainly with the London Nationals in Junior B, where he put up strong numbers for a defenceman and earned league recognition. He also made a few appearances for the Knights that year. During the pandemic-disrupted period he played a stint with SK Lejon in Sweden, and in 2021 he was taken 31st overall in the first round by the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL Entry Draft.
Montreal signed him to a three-year entry-level contract on 5 October 2022, and Mailloux returned to London for a full OHL season in 2022–23, finishing with the most goals by a defenceman in the league and earning a place on the OHL Second All-Star Team. He moved into pro hockey with the Laval Rocket in 2023–24, where his offensive skillset stood out, leading to an AHL All-Star selection and recognition on the league’s All-Rookie Team after a productive campaign.
The Canadiens recalled him late in the 2023–24 season and he made his NHL debut on 16 April 2024, recording an assist on a goal by Alex Newhook. Over the following seasons he split time between Laval and Montreal, scoring his first NHL goal in a game against the New York Islanders in October 2024. In July 2025 he was traded to the St. Louis Blues and continued his development oscillating between the NHL club and its AHL affiliate.
On the ice Mailloux is defined by his offensive approach from defence: poise with the puck, the ability to generate scoring chances and a playmaking bent. Scouts and coaches have pointed to his offensive instincts as a strength while noting that tightening his defensive game remains a clear area for growth.
