Growing up in Georgetown, Ontario, Lucas Condotta cut his teeth in the Ontario Junior Hockey League from 2013 to 2018. He began with the Pickering Panthers, was later traded to the Hamilton Red Wings, and finished his junior tenure across three seasons with the Markham Royals after the club relocated. His play in those final OJHL seasons earned him a place on the league's First All-Star Team.
In 2018 Condotta moved on to UMass Lowell and the River Hawks of NCAA Division I hockey. Over four collegiate seasons he appeared in 121 games and collected 52 points. He wore the captain's letter in his senior year, posting 10 goals and 23 points, and twice earned his team's most valuable player honours. Academically he made the Hockey East All-Academic Team on four separate occasions.
Undrafted, Condotta landed a one-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on 31 March 2022 and joined their AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, on a professional tryout to finish the 2021–22 season. In his first full year in Laval he played 72 games and recorded 16 goals for 31 points. He took the ice for his NHL debut on 13 April 2023 against the Boston Bruins and scored his first NHL goal that night against Jeremy Swayman in a 5–4 loss.
On 13 July 2023 he signed a two-year, two-way extension with Montreal. The 2023–24 campaign saw him shuttle between Laval and Montréal: recalled on 24 January 2024, he made his season debut on 25 January in a 4–3 win over the New York Islanders and totaled three NHL appearances during that initial stint without registering a point. Assigned to Laval to start 2024–25, he was named the Rocket's fifth captain on 11 October 2024, then recalled by Montréal on 26 October and 6 November, making a season appearance on 7 November in a 5–3 loss to the New Jersey Devils. He had one goal in seven games with the Canadiens before being sent back to Laval on 25 November. On 19 March 2025 he agreed to a further two-year contract extension with the Canadiens organization.
Condotta's profile is that of a hardworking winger and a steady leader: a college captain who translated that responsibility into reliable two-way play in the AHL and the occasional NHL opportunity when called upon.
