NBA Team Pulse: where every team is heading
First the trajectory of the last five seasons (2021-22 to 2025-26): is the team rising or falling? Then 2025-26 against the season before. The 2025-26 rating, separately, says how good it was (0 to 100). Each dimension — results, offensive efficiency, defensive efficiency — is compared with the league of the same season.

How it's calculatedHide the method
For each season, Basketball-Reference team stats become indexes against the league: 100 + 10 standard deviations. Results (win %), offense and defense (efficiency per 100 possessions), and the four factors: shooting (eFG% for minus against), possession (turnovers forced minus committed), rebounding (offensive and defensive), free throws (for minus against). The season rating weights them — results 20%, offense 22.5%, defense 22.5%, possession 7.5%, rebounding 7.5%, shooting 5%, free throws 5%, roster (OV weighted by minutes) 10% — re-standardizes the total across the 30 teams and converts it to 0–100. The 5-year pulse is the slope of the overall index over five seasons (5 points per season = +40); the season pulse, the gap with the season before; roster, players' observed trend weighted by minutes.
