There were no games on the AFC East slate, but the division leader still found its way into the news cycle. The Buffalo Bills, sitting atop the AFC East at 5-1, adjusted their practice squad while drawing more national attention in Week 8 prediction pieces.
Bills shuffle depth on practice squad
Per Pro Football Rumors, the Buffalo Bills signed outside linebacker Andre Jones Jr. and cornerback AJ Woods to their practice squad. In corresponding moves, the Bills released cornerback Anthony Kendall and defensive lineman Austin Johnson from the same unit, according to Pro Football Rumors.
The transactions tweak Buffalo’s defensive depth as the team continues to pace the division at 5-1, ahead of the 4-3 New England Patriots, the 2-5 New York Jets and the 1-5 Miami Dolphins. While practice squad moves don’t affect the active roster immediately, they help shape the options available if injuries or performance issues arise.
National projections favor Buffalo vs. Baltimore
CBS Sports kept the Bills in the spotlight on the prediction front. In his Week 8 picks column, Pete Prisco has Buffalo beating the Baltimore Ravens in what he describes as a high-scoring game. Another CBS Sports piece on Week 8 picks and score predictions also sees the Bills surviving Baltimore to come away with a win.
There were no headline-grabbing developments around the Dolphins, Patriots or Jets over the past 24 hours. For now, the rest of the AFC East prepares out of the limelight while the Bills’ 5-1 start — and how they’ll fare against the Ravens — remains the main storyline in the division.
