The Winnipeg Jets made another round of training camp cuts Friday afternoon, sending four players to the waiver wire and moving one goaltender to the American Hockey League. Forwards Nikita Chibrikov, Parker Ford and Noah Gregor, along with defenceman Isaak Phillips, were placed on waivers with the intention of assigning them to the Manitoba Moose if they clear. Goaltender Thomas Milic, who does not require waivers, was loaned directly to the Moose.

Four players hit waivers, Milic heads to AHL

Chibrikov, Ford and Phillips all saw game action with the Jets last season, which now necessitates passing through waivers before they can be returned to the AHL. Gregor joined the organization as an unrestricted free‑agent signing on July 1 and was competing for a spot among Winnipeg’s depth forwards. All four players will be exposed to the rest of the league during the waiver period, giving other clubs the opportunity to claim them before they can report to Manitoba.

Milic remains on his entry path and is still exempt from waivers, allowing the Jets to move him freely between the NHL and AHL. The young netminder appeared in three games for Winnipeg last season, including his first NHL outing in late November, and will now look to build on that experience with more regular playing time in the AHL. His assignment to the Moose also provides clarity in the Jets’ crease picture heading into the final days of camp.

Jets down to 29 players with deadline approaching

Following Friday’s moves, the Jets’ camp roster stands at 29 players. The team must make additional cuts to reach the 23‑man regular‑season limit by Monday, Sept. 28, which falls one day before the NHL’s 2026‑27 opening night. Winnipeg’s own home and season opener is set for Friday, Oct. 2, when the Boston Bruins visit Canada Life Centre.

Through three pre‑season games, the Jets have posted a 1‑1‑1 record and have just one exhibition contest remaining, a road matchup against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday evening. That final tune‑up, combined with the outcome of the waiver process for the players just placed, should help determine which skaters claim the remaining jobs at forward, on defence and in goal when Winnipeg finalizes its roster.
